From July to August 2023, China’s lithium-ion battery industry will maintain growth. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country’s total lithium battery production exceeded 180GWh, a year-on-year increase of 23%. The output of energy storage lithium batteries and new energy vehicle power lithium batteries reached 33GWh and 67GWh respectively. In terms of export trade, the country’s total lithium battery exports from July to August reached 76.57 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17%.
In the first-level materials segment, the output of cathode materials, anode materials, separators, and electrolytes all increased by more than 20%.
In terms of second-level materials, the output of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide is approximately 90,000 tons and 50,000 tons respectively, with average prices of 271,000 yuan/ton and 265,000 yuan/ton respectively.
Based on data from January to August, the country’s total lithium battery production exceeded 580GWh, a year-on-year increase of 37%, and the energy storage lithium battery production was approximately 110GWh.
